This video tells the story of an Aboriginal Elder, Dootrule, whose brother was separated from his family from birth by Welfare Authorities, as was often the case in the 1960s. His brother, Rob, tearfully describes his reunification with Dootrule when he was 17. Dootrule and others describe the alcoholism that he experienced for much of his life, his recent 10 months of sobriety, and how he stumbled upon traditional art making and the role this played in his recovery. His partner of 30 years speaks of her admiration of his strength, the disintegration of her own family as a child, and her continuing battle with her own alcohol dependancy.
